The SABC-IBI Framework
Southeast Asia's Integrated Biological Infrastructure (IBI) is a regional framework designed to transform scientific discoveries into scalable biological infrastructure. By integrating frontier life sciences with core technology platforms—including cryobiotechnology, reproductive biology, embryology and cell science, Cell & Gene Technologies, bioinformatics, and AI-enabled bio-digital biology—IBI establishes an open innovation platform from which specialized infrastructures for regenerative medicine and biodiversity are developed in parallel. Together, these interconnected infrastructures provide the scientific and technological foundation for advanced cell therapies, sustainable food systems, biodiversity conservation, and the biological economy, strengthening Southeast Asia's capacity for innovation and sustainable development.

These biological assets hold enormous potential for advancing healthcare, food systems, biodiversity conservation, and the emerging bioeconomy. However, scientific expertise, biological resources, and technology platforms remain fragmented across institutions and national boundaries, limiting the region's capacity to translate innovation into real-world impact.
By connecting biological resources, frontier technologies, digital platforms, and regional collaboration within a unified ecosystem, Southeast Asia can accelerate scientific innovation, strengthen healthcare, protect biodiversity, and unlock sustainable bioeconomic growth.
